When we approached 20 Eiffel from avenue Rapp on a recent Friday evening, we could see the Eiffel Tower looming high above rue de Monttessuy, the street on which the restaurant is located.

Angel of the Month
Photograph by Rosemary Flannery
Author of Angels of Paris - An Architectural Tour through the History of Paris
It is unusual to see a sculpted angel playing an organ, but Anne-Marie Roux-Colas imagined an orchestra of angels for her inventive outsized tympanum on the facade of the Saint Odile Church. Patron saint of the Alsace-Lorraine, the warm ocre sandstone was imported in her honor from the Alsatian region to be carved into figures of angels playing drums, guitars, horns, flutes, an accordion, and even bagpipes. The church was erected in 1935, and reflects the spare, sober Art Deco style in vogue at that time.
